What is SMARC?
The Southwest Missouri Amateur Radio Club, based in Springfield, Missouri, was incorporated in 1956 as a "benevolent organization" with the purpose of service to the community. The club participates in public service activities ranging from Skywarn with the National Weather Service, to communications for the Greene County Emergency Management Office.
Our mission is "To provide an association for persons in the Southwest Missouri area who share a common interest in developing proficiency in and furthering the interests of amateur radio and to provide for community services using amateur radio."
We maintain repeaters on 146.910 MHz, 146.640 MHz, and 444.400 MHz to assist with our public service activities, and for the enjoyment of the general ham population. We also assist people in becoming licensed through exam study seminars and by giving the actual test via the FCC's Volunteer Examiner program.
You can join SMARC by attending any of the club meetings, which are held at 7 PM the third Monday of every month. Meetings are held at the Greene County Emergency Management office, 833 N Boonville Ave in Springfield.
If you aren't within reasonable driving distance of Springfield, but still want to have some involvement in the club, we can arrange to get you on the club's Yahoo! Reflector.
